  1. Scope:

    • This specification details the preliminary performance requirements, qualifying tests and test procedures for Audiosears' noise cancelling "G" type microphone (amplified version). Where appropriate, descriptions of individual components have been added.

  2. Handset Installation:

    • These elements are to be installed such that the rear port is "aligned" with the handset cordage entry hole on "G" style handsets. The rear port is located along the edge of the cap and is identified by a group of small holes. Once aligned, tighten the set screw down to "lock" the cap in position.

    1. Material: Borg Warner Cycolac "T" (ABS) or equivalent

    1. Material: Polyester

    4. Charater/Background Color: Characters shall be in black, background in silver. Refer to the individual specification for more detail.

    • 1.02 ±0.1 oz. (29 ±3 grams)

  7. Environmental / Serviceability:

    1. Impact: The microphone shall be completely functional after being subjected to a random drop test 18 times from a height of 5 feet (1.524m). The output of either of the acoustic elements shall not change from their before drop value by more than 6 dB. The impact surface shall be concrete covered with 1/8" (3.25mm) hard tile. Note: The element shall be installed onto a "G" type handset when performing this test.
    2. Dialectric Strength: The microphone shall withstand 500 VRMS (60 Hz sine wave) applied between the contact "rings" of the element and all exposed surfaces of the microphone when it is installed onto a handset.
